High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. Research tells us that capable students can benefit greatly from working with others of similar ability. Not only do students have the opportunity to work with students of similar ability, they also enjoy challenging and more complex work. Teachers have developed programs that incorporate both accelerated and enriched learning.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?
Recognising potential and developing talent

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.
Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Holsworthy High School, we are committed to recognising and nurturing high potential and gifted students across the creative, intellectual, physical and social-emotional domains by providing opportunities in the classroom, across the school and beyond school.
At Holsworthy High School, we recognise that every student is unique. Students are supported in the classroom through:
- differentiated learning that adjusts pace, complexity, and higher-order thinking so every student can thrive;

- supportive classrooms that foster belonging while encouraging creativity, collaboration and positive risk-taking through authentic, choice-driven tasks;
- professional learning for staff to build capacity in addressing the diverse learning needs of all students, using strengths-based feedback and student goal setting.
